The Odyssey Of Marriage

(We’re talking about a Greek hero, Odysseus, who gets kidnapped by a goddess to basically be her sex slave for seven years. Trying to explain why having daily sex with a goddess when you don’t want to might NOT be a good thing, I ask them to imagine being forced to eat your favorite candy every hour for many months.)

Me: “After a while, what once seemed awesome turns disgusting and then grotesque.”

Student: “Isn’t that kind of like marriage?”
