The Not So Fortunate Son

(One of my coworker’s sons is in a band that is gaining wider recognition after winning a local radio station’s contest a few years ago. There is a man in her office I don’t recognize when I stop in to say goodbye at the end of the day.)

Coworker: “This is my son, [Name].”

Me: “Oh! Are you the famous one?”

Coworker’s Son: *with a look of annoyance* “No. I’m not.”

Me: “Ah! Then you must be the one she actually speaks highly of!”

Coworker’s Son: *laughing* “Nice save!”
