The More You Read The Worse It Gets, Part 26
We are on the cusp of a not-quite-but-almost hurricane hitting our town so we’re closing the store early. During all the commotion I take a call from a customer.
Caller: “Hi, yeah I had a curbside pickup appointment for my groceries this afternoon, but I want to change it to delivery instead.”
Me: “I’m afraid we’ve canceled all pickups and deliveries for the rest of the day due to the storm. We sent an email out about an hour ago.”
Caller: “I don’t have email! And no, I do not accept your excuse. I will accept a delivery slot this afternoon—”
Me: “—Ma’am, first of all, you have to have an email to sign up for the curbside pickup, so we sent an email to the address you would have provided for that. Secondly, we will not be sending any vehicles out on the roads this afternoon as it will not be safe. We will resume services tomorrow unless there is storm damage. We will inform you by email.”
Caller: “I don’t have email! I just put a fake email on the form because the stupid girl wouldn’t take it without that part filled! Send me my groceries before 5 PM!”
Me: “Ma’am, may I ask why you’re changing your curbside pickup to delivery?”
Caller: “Because of the storm, of course!”
Me: “So you’re acknowledging that it’s unsafe to drive, so you’d rather have one of our drivers go out in unsafe conditions?”
Caller: “You don’t understand. It’s my Grey’s Anatomy night and I don’t have my wine.”
Me: “Have a good day, and stay safe, ma’am.” *Click.*
The phone rang again but I was evacuado-no-no to that!
