The Great British Fake-Off

A guy is in the dessert aisle, looking flustered.

Me: “Can I help you find anything?”

Customer: *With an American accent.* “Yeah! Black pudding! I was told it was really good.”

Me: “Uh, that will be in the prepared meats aisle. I can show you.”

Customer: “But it’s a pudding? Why isn’t it with the desserts?”

Me: “Sir, black pudding is blood sausage.”

Customer: “Blood… sausage?”

Me: “Yes, sir. It’s very much a savoury dish. It’s made with beef or pork, with blood from the respective animal and—”

Customer: “—Yeah, no thanks. I already know I don’t want it. What is it with your country calling s*** puddings! You have no idea how disappointed I was when I found out what a Yorkshire pudding was!”

Me: “I’m sorry for the confusion, sir.”

Customer: “And then when you do have a sweet pudding you call it something like spotted d*ck! It’s like you don’t want your food to sound good!”

Me: “I’d try to argue with you, but we also sell ‘Toad In The Hole’, so…” *Shrugs.*

I left him to his shopping, and hopefully he enjoyed eating what he DID buy.
