The Grate Debate
I’m working on a deli counter at the supermarket.
Customer: “I want that block of cheddar. The whole thing.”
Me: “That’s two kilos.”
Customer: “Yes, I want the whole thing.”
Me: “That will come to just over £20.”
Customer: “Would it be cheaper if you grate it all for me first?”
Me: “Would the exact same product, with the exact same weight, but some extra labour thrown in there to grate it all, be cheaper?”
Customer: “Yeah.”
Me: “No.”
Customer: “Why?”
