(We are watching a film in history, set in the 1930s. One character is not sure about who is the father of her baby.)
Student #1: “[Teacher], couldn’t they have used DNA testing?”
Teacher: “No, that wasn’t invented until the 1980s.”
Student #2: “Maybe they used a time machine.”
Me: “Don’t be ridiculous. Those aren’t invented until the 23rd century.”
(Cue groaning from classmates.)
