The Mother Of All Lies

(My mom has had the same job for almost 30 years, and never had a job interview. I’m currently looking for work, and she’s giving me a lot of out of date advice on how to contact potential employers.)

Me: “The problem is, Mom, for a lot of those big corporations, that’s not how you apply for a job any more. You go online, you fill out an application, and then they have you answer a questionnaire with questions like ‘How well do you handle stress?’, and ‘Would your co-workers describe you as a hard worker?’. It’s like a first interview.”

Mom: “Well, I hope you’re not telling the truth!”
