The Conversation Took An Arrested Development

(I am in line to check out at National Large Retail Store and listening to the customer in front of me chatting with the cashier as they are being checked out. It is obvious they know each other and are talking about someone else they both know. I didn’t catch the beginning of the conversation but, basically, someone they know went into a store and got arrested; I don’t know what for. When it was my turn to be checked out…)

Cashier: “Did you find everything you were looking for today?”

Me: “Yes, and I didn’t even get arrested!”

(We both had a laugh about that.)
