The Cake Is Not A Lie

| MA, USA | Learning | June 19, 2015

(My freshman world history class has a couple of fairly rowdy guys in the class. My poor teacher is stuck with guys who think it is acceptable to turn in assignments on crumpled pieces of notebook paper with a hole in the middle. One class, he gets a little fed up with us.)

Teacher: “If you behave until the end of class, I’ll give you cake.”

Me: “Let me guess: at the end of class, you’ll tell us the cake is a lie. Right?”

Classmate: “No Portal references!”

(The cake wasn’t a lie, actually. Someone had had a birthday and left him the rest of the cake!)
