The Anger Keeps On Renewing
I worked for a company that offers subscription services and has an optional automatic renewal program.
Caller: “I am so mad! My subscription got renewed! I didn’t want to renew it!”
Me: “I understand, ma’am. I can see from your account details that you opted into the automatic renewal, but I can deactivate that, refund you the payment, and cancel your service.”
Caller: “Oh… well… I… I’m still mad! You shouldn’t have renewed it without asking me!”
Me: “Did you not get the email notice we sent you two weeks before renewal?”
Caller: “No, I only got one from today!”
Me: “If you got the one from today you should have received the one two weeks before renewal.”
Caller: “Let me look… oh, here it is. I didn’t open it. Well… do you think people open every little secret email your company sends?! You should have made it clearer! I’m so mad!” *Click.*
Some people just want to have the argument no matter what.
