That’s Another Way To Be Below The Belt

, , , , | Right | April 25, 2025

My wife and I are in a superstore today that also sells tires, sporting equipment, etc. There are only a few checkout aisles open but the woman in front of us smiles at us.

Customer: “I don’t have as much as it looks!”

She hasn’t put anything on the checkout belt but in her cart are some clothing items and a large plastic storage unit.

I put down a divider and start putting our stuff on the belt. There were two dividers with her space between them, empty.

Customer: “They should have paper towels here to dry off the belt. I don’t want my items getting wet.”

When it’s her turn she refuses to put even the plastic storage unit on the belt. The cashier is able to ring it up from a distance and then the customer tells the bagger to put the unit aside. This puts it clearly in the way of checking anything else out. The bagger tries to put it in the cart.

Customer: “Don’t put it in there! Put it aside.”

The bagger tries to put it on the floor.

Customer: “Don’t put it on the floor!”

She then hands the cashier her other items one at a time. The bagger tries to put them in the plastic storage unit.

Customer: “Don’t put them in there!”

The bagger just smiles and walks away, leaving the customer to arrange things to suit herself. When the customer leaves, I speak to the cashier.

Me: “Put this over here and that over there and… just kidding.”
