That Babysits Surprisingly Well

(I am outside doing yard work with my mom and our young neighbor, who is only four years old.)

Neighbor: “You know, my mom use to babysit you.”

Me: “Yes, I know.”

Neighbor: “Well, I think it would only be fair for you to babysit me.”

Me: “Okay, well, one day when your mommy goes out maybe I can.”

Neighbor: “ACTUALLY! I should just move in with you. Things aren’t going so well at my house.”

(I later told her mom and she just burst out laughing and told me the kid was all mine.)
