I handed a new hire his W-4. (This is a form that you fill out so your employer can withhold the correct federal income tax from your pay.)
He gave it back to me with the number twelve as his withholding allowance.
Me: *Jokingly* “Do you have eleven children?”
New Hire: *Looking confused* “No. I’ve never filled out a W-4 before.”
Me: “So, why did you put down the number twelve?”
New Hire: “Just thought it looked right.”
