Unfiltered Story #93274

I had a pretty traumatic miscarriage early on in pregnancy. I had to be rushed to the hospital and have emergency surgery.

When I was released (on Sunday) I called my boss at home and told her what was going on. I explained that I was on pain medicine, was not to drive while taking it (my job involved significant driving), and to stay off my feet until the bleeding subsided. I had paperwork sent in from my doctor writing me off work for a week. She was understanding and sympathetic, even sharing a story about her own pregnancy loss.

Then, two days later, I get a phone call from a coworker whom our boss had asked to check on me because I hadn’t reported in. They tried to contact my sister as well. She didn’t remember any of our conversation. This was 5 years ago and it still confuses me.
