Sprinkle Some Listening Skills Into Your Day
I have a bit of a speech impediment. I can talk clearly but need to focus and over-pronounce every sound to make myself really clear. I’ve found it particularly taxing during the health crisis, wearing masks, but I’ve been getting on fine so far, though it is been a bit hard.
I normally don’t go out for coffee, but I decide to treat myself.
Me: “For takeout, can I get a medium caramel oat latte, please?”
Server: “Takeout or sitting in?”
Me: “Takeout, please.”
Server: “Sorry, what was the drink again?”
Me: “The order was, for takeout, a medium caramel oat latte, please.”
Server: “Okay.”
She starts to make it in a normal cup.
Me: “That drink is to go, okay?”
Server: “Sure. Any chocolate sprinkles?”
Me: “No, thanks.”
I watched her put them on anyway. I got back to the car and took a sip. And it was vanilla. I haven’t gone back.
