Someone Explain This To The Gen-Zs

I am working as a tech support manager for a dial-up ISP in the mid-1990s.

Caller: “Why is my email not working? This keeps happening!”

Me: “There aren’t any issues reported from our end. Maybe if—”

Caller: “—no! Stay on the line and I will try to access my email! You’ll see!”

Me: “You want me to stay on the phone with you while you try to go online?”

Caller: “Yes!”

Me: “Is this your only phone line?”

Caller: “Yes… why?”

Me: “You can only use the internet when you’re not on the phone.”

Yup… he was talking to me on his one phone line. All the other times his email didn’t work before, he had also been talking on the phone. I do NOT miss the dial-up internet days…
