Some People Are Just Out To Cause Chaos

, , , , | Right | June 8, 2025

I’m out the back on the dishwasher, when I overhear this from the till area.

Female Customer: “I don’t want you serving me! I don’t like the look of your face! I want her to serve us!”

I go out to investigate and see a vaguely familiar couple, [Female Customer] and [Male Customer], speaking to [Colleague #1]. He’s a bit surprised by this outburst, but isn’t too bothered about it. [Colleague #2] is making drinks, and they are requesting she take the payment at the till as well as making the drinks.

It’s really busy, and these customers sound like they will cause a big scene, so my colleagues just oblige to get rid of them. [Colleague #2] takes the money and makes their drinks, and they go to sit down at one of the back tables.

Me: “Are you okay?”

Colleague #1: “I’m fine, they’ve been in before and I’ve served them several times, but oh well.”

As he’s okay, I go back to dishwash. [Colleague #3] is clearing tables for me and sees [Male Customer] possibly filming her as she goes near him, but she isn’t entirely sure if he is just looking something up on his phone or not. [Male Customer] and [Female Customer] then start arguing over all sorts of nonsense, before finishing their drinks and leaving.

Later that afternoon, [Manager] starts her shift, and [Colleague #1] is telling her about the customers. He mentions how uncomfortable [Colleague #3] was as well.

Manager: “I think I know who you are talking about. Last time he claimed he was having a heart attack, and that she was his fiancée, but she said she didn’t even know him, even though they were talking all the time. He refused a first aider, said he was fine, and they both left together. Very strange. They’ve always caused a scene, but we haven’t been able to ban them until now because no one has complained.”

At this point, this couple begin to sound VERY familiar to me…

Me: “Hold on… weren’t these two the ones with the green button incident?”

Colleague #1: *Realises.* “Yes! They were! Haha!”

[Male Customer] and [Female Customer] from “Pressing The Green Button Takes The Cake“! I knew I’d seen them before! I tell [Manager] all about that incident. She rolls her eyes and then turns to [Colleague #1].

Manager: *To [Colleague #1].* “Right, next time they come in, serve them as normal, and then call me at once. I want to have a little chat with them.”

She produces two banning orders.

Manager: “…and hand them these.”

Now we have a legitimate reason to ban them. For the first time, we hope they don’t take too long to come back!
