Some People Are Driven To Be Complainers
I am on a lunch break from my restaurant job. Many of us would sometimes walk across the street to Trader Joe’s if we didn’t want restaurant food. I am doing so today.
As I approach the parking lot, someone FLOORS it in reverse out of their parking spot, very nearly hitting me. I have to run to get out of the way! I approach the car, thinking I am going to say something to the driver, but she is just staring straight ahead and screaming at the top of her lungs. No words or anything, just screaming.
Me: “Nope.”
I back away and go into the Trader Joe’s. Several strangers plus some workers there ask me:
Stranger #1: “Are you okay?”
Stranger #2: “I saw everything! Did she hit you?”
I reassure them all I am okay. When my break is over, I get called into my manager’s office.
Manager: “What happened out there today?”
Me: “Some crazy driver almost ran me over.”
Manager: “Yes, she recognized your uniform. She called me and complained about you, saying you were behaving dangerously.”
Me: “Wait… what?! That I was behaving dangerously? Me?!”
Manager: “She said you almost killed her. She was very upset.”
Yes. She called my job to complain that SHE had almost killed ME. I almost got a write-up, but I argued enough that they let it go. People are insane.
