Signed On For Support

(I’m in a group chat with three university friends. We all came to know each other when we grouped up for an assessment the previous semester, and grew very close, very quickly, over a hatred of group projects where people didn’t pull their weight. We vowed pretty early on that we’d never pull that during any group thing we did together.)

Me: *in the chat* “So, I’m running a little late to class today. Actually, a lot late. I need someone to sign me off when the roll comes around. Please.”

Friend #1: “I’M ON IT!”

Friend #2: “CONSIDER IT DONE, MY LIEGE.”

Friend #3: “I’VE ALREADY SIGNED YOU OFF TWICE!”

Me: “See, guys? THIS is the god-d*** support I need in a group project!”
