She’s Too H2-Slow, Part 2

(My boyfriend and I come back to his house from a day out. His mom decides to go to her room, so she can continue watching her show about puppies and kittens. She puts a pot of water on to boil and leaves. After the water has been bubbling for a long time, we realize we should call her.)

Boyfriend: “Mom, your water!”

Boyfriend’s Mom: *coming out and checking the stove* “There isn’t any water left!”

Boyfriend: “That’s what happens when you let it boil too long!”

(His mom puts more water on to boil, and returns to her room. Fifteen minutes later…)

Boyfriend: “I should go get her. The water is probably gone again.”

(My boyfriend gets up and goes back to his mom’s room.)

Boyfriend: “Come do something with this water. You’re not paying attention.”

(He returns to me. His mom rushes out. We can hear the sound of more water running.)

Boyfriend: “If you’re not going to check it—”

Boyfriend’s Mom: “I keep forgetting about it. This show is just so cute.”

Boyfriend: “Ma, the house is going to burn down because the puppies are cute.”
