She’s Already Lost At Sí
Passengers are embarking on the ship on day one of a Caribbean cruise. I’m fielding queries from them as they arrive. One passenger seems to know nothing about the Cruise she’s booked and paid for.
Passenger: “So, where do we go?”
Me: “What cabin number are you?”
Passenger: “No, I mean this boat. Where does it go?”
Me: “To Puerto Rico and back, stopping at—”
Passenger: “—Puerto Rico? Do they speak Mexican there?”
Me: “Uh, well, Spanish. They speak Spanish, just like the Mexicans.”
Passenger: “Oh, Mexicans speak Spanish too? That’s so smart! My maid is Mexican, and she never told me she can speak Spanish too!”
