Winter Is Coming

(My boyfriend and I have recently moved into our first home together, and we can’t afford the same luxuries that we took for granted in our family’s homes. It’s winter, and we’re sitting in the lounge room.)

Boyfriend: *excited* “Hey, [my name]. [My name]!”

(I turn to face him.)

Boyfriend: “Look, look!”

(He breathes out, and his breath mists in front of him.)

Boyfriend: *still excited* “See that? We’re freezing to death.”
