Seeing-Drive Dogs

(We are passing a country lane which intercepts some railway tracks. Just before the crossing are some speed-bumps. My mother is in the car and as we cross the railway line she turns to me.)

Mother: “Are they for blind people?”

Me: “What?”

Mother: “Those bumps on the road? Are they so blind people know that there’s a railway crossing?”

Me: “Mum, how are blind people supposed to drive? No disrespect to them, but you kinda need to see where you’re going.”

Mother: “But they have guide dogs for that don’t they?”
