You Win, You Lose

(I work a few hours each day at a nanny job for a family that I have known for a long time. Because the kids are older and require very little direct supervision, this leaves me with free time between when they get home and when their parents arrive. On this day, I am shuffling a card game when the dad comes home from work.)

Dad: “Hey, what are you playing?”

Me: “[Card Game]. I got it for Christmas, but no one has wanted to play with me, so I’ve been teaching myself how to play by playing several rounds against myself.”

Dad: “So you win every time. That must be nice.”

Me: “Not really. I keep feeling disappointed that I lost!”
