Say Bi To That Friendship

(I am 15-year-old female and I think I may be bisexual. My friend and I are walking home from school and we are talking about gay marriage.)

Me: “I don’t see why gay people shouldn’t be allowed to get married. It doesn’t hurt me in any way.”

Friend: “Well it does! If we let gay people get married, then where does it stop?!”

Me: “Do you really hate gay people so much?”

Friend: “Yeah! It’s icky and wrong! I could never be friends with a f**!”

Me: “What if I was gay then? If I turned around right now and said ‘[Name], I’m gay’ what would you say?”

(The silence that follows is enough to tell me what I need to know. At the end of that school year, she goes to a different sixth form college to me. The next time I see her I am 19 years old and have my beautiful girlfriend on my arm!)
