Requires Heathcliff-Notes
(We are waiting for English class to begin, and a student mentions how a professor at another college frequently compares Edward and Bella from ‘Twilight’ to Romeo and Juliet.)
Student #1: “…and in one book she uses Wuthering Heights!”
Student #2: “But maybe if they read Twilight and they see the reference, it might make them want to read Wuthering Heights.”
Me: “But if they are used to Twilight, and expect Twilight when they read Wuthering Heights, they’ll hate Wuthering Heights!”
Student #3: “I think I’d rather have Harry Potter be the gateway drug to reading than Twilight.”
