Me: “Too. Much. Homework. Don’t want to do any of it.”
Stepfather: “See, back when I was in school — this was when dinosaurs roamed the earth, mind you — we didn’t have as much work to do because usually saber-toothed tigers would eat half of us before we could get back to our caves for family art time. And then that whole meteor thing left us in the dark for a bit. I was really happy when the lightbulb was invented. The point is, I’m old. Do your homework.”
