Raising An Interesting Point

(We’re in science class on the last full day of the semester and the teacher is asking kids to raise their hands if they’re presenting their projects today. One kid comes late to the party, his hand shooting up just after the others put their hands down so the teacher thinks he has a question.)
Teacher: “Yes, student?”
Student: “I don’t know. Everyone was raising their hands.”
(The rest of us burst out laughing. It’s odd because only four or five other kids were raising their hands so I don’t know why he felt the need.)
