Punctuation On Tap

I’m taking a customer’s drink order.

Customer: “One dee notes local, please.”

Me: “I’m sorry, what was that?”

Customer: “The beer.” *Points to it on the menu.*

Me: “Uh… that’s the asterisk on the menu. It denotes local beer.”

Customer: “Yes, I want one of those.”

Me: “Riiiight.”

I ended up asking them what kinds of beer they like, and got them a local version of that. They liked it!
