Projecting Your Frustration

(To save on costs, our IT department turns off all of the projectors in the classrooms at night. Sometimes, they forget to turn them back on and they are the only ones that can do this. This is a big problem for our 7:30 am class. Angrily, the professor calls them again.)

Professor: “Hello, this is [Professor] in [room]. Could you please send someone down to turn on the projectors?”

(Listens.)

Professor: “Not until at least 8?! I have a class to teach!”

(Listens.)

Professor: “Okay, fine. Thank you.”

(The professor walks over to the TA and hands her the phone.)

Professor: “Start calling the IT office. If they don’t answer, hang up and call again immediately. Leave a message every fourth call.”

(An IT person was down to fix the problem within five minutes.)
