Praying For It To End

(My friend and I are on a trip to Dublin. We stay in this small but fantastically located tourist apartment that is near Dublin castle, Christchurch cathedral, the river Liffey, etc. This is great until Friday night. We’re back from a long day of tourism and trying to wind down when they start carillon practice at the cathedral. It’s loud, it’s off-rhythm and it has gone on for a while when it finally stops.)

Me: “Finally!”

(On cue, rehearsal resumes.)

Me: “Oh, for the love of God!”

Friend: “I think that’s the point.”
