Poetry In Non-Motion

(I’m in sixth grade English class, where our teacher is talking about writing poetry.)
Teacher: “You always want to have action in your poetry. Don’t say, ‘I am watching the rain through the window,’ say, ‘I am dancing in the rain!’”
Student: “But what if we weren’t dancing? What if we were actually looking out the window?”
Teacher: “…Well, that wouldn’t make for a very interesting poem.”
