Me: *to the person sitting next to me* “[Classmate], have you got a pen I can borrow?”
Classmate: *yelling* “HAS ANYONE GOT A PEN?”
Assistant Teacher: “Do you need a pen?”
Classmate: “No, [My Name] needs one.”
Assistant Teacher: “Well, ask for one!”
Me: “Can I have a pen, please?”
Assistant Teacher: “Say please!”
Me: “Um… please can I have a pen, please?”
Assistant Teacher: “Better!”
