Pet Project(ing)

(I’m helping a friend move out of his grandmother’s house. His grandmother owns a very old dog that is largely ignored by most of the family except for him. The dog comes up to his room as we’re getting ready to load out the last of the boxes.)

Me: “So is that everything?”

Friend: “Yeah, I think so. Ready to grab a box and head out?”

(At that moment, the dog, who’s been staring at him, suddenly jumps on him.)

Me: “Ever get the feeling that they understand?”

Friend: “Trust me, they understand.”
