Paper Thin Empathy
I worked in the private wealth management division for a large broker. It just meant the people we dealt with had between 500k and about 4 million (some had way more).
It’s September 11, 2001, and one of our typical jerk of a clients calls in:
Client: “I’m watching TV and seeing a lot of papers falling from those buildings, none of them better be mine!”
Me: “No, sir, trust me, no one is reading those papers. Anyone close enough to read those has… other concerns.”
Client: “D*** well better be!” *Click.*
I quit not long after; wealth management puts you into contact with the worst scumbags the human race can produce…
Out of curiosity, I did check in on this guy in the 2008 crash and he lost f****** EVERYTHING so… yay.
