Owning The Name

(An online friend and I have an active text-based roleplays centered around various original characters. We are discussing names for a puppy that one of the characters adopted.)

Friend: “First name that comes to mind is Smiggles.”

Me: “Wait, wasn’t that the name of [Other Character]’s imaginary squid?”

Friend: “I have a strange thing for naming everything Smiggles.”

Me: “…Don’t become a mother.”

Friend: “Hey!”

Me: “I’m sorry, but Smiggles will be mocked by all his/her classmates for his/her name.”

Friend: “Smiggles would be so badass that he/she would kick everyone’s butt for mocking him/her. And of course get detention afterwards.”

Me: “What about job prospects though? Would YOU hire- no, wait, you totally would.”
