Owned By The Owner(‘s Kids)
A customer calls for delivery.
Me: “Sorry, ma’am, but you’re outside our delivery area. We can still make your pizza, but it would have to be for collection.”
Customer: “You can deliver it to me.”
Me: “As I said, ma’am, we can’t.”
Customer: “You must be new there. I know the owner personally.”
Me: “Well, I’m the owner’s daughter, and we don’t deliver to your area.”
Customer: *Click.*
Owner: *To me, after having overheard.* “You know I don’t have any kids, right?”
Me: “If she knew you, she would have called me out on it.”
Owner: “Smart. From now on, everyone working here is my kid. Filter out the scammers.”
Me: “Cool! Do we get an allowance?”
Owner: “Only if you do your chores…”
The new “policy” worked wonders every time we got a “I know the owner” call, which sadly was very common.
