Out Hunting For Pray
I’m chatting with a customer during a transaction, and I mention in passing something rough that had happened to me lately (as an empathic response to something she mentions).
Customer: “May I pray for you?”
Me: *Thinking she means later.* “Uh, sure, if you want to.”
She then grabs my hand and proceeds to ask for the Lord’s blessing to help me through it and to “lift me up” going forward, etc. Then she pats my hand, gives me a big smile and pulls a postcard out of her purse for her religious group, and invites me to their weekly meeting.
I politely thanked her and said I’d think about it, but that postcard went in the trash the second she was out the door.
