In 1995, I got engaged. Realizing that it’d be a good time to get a better-paying job, I started reading the want ads in the newspaper for a better job in computers. (I was doing this at lunchtime at my desk.)
I was trying to see if I could fit into the various descriptions that every employer lists. I knew I wouldn’t ever find a PERFECT fit. Then, I read one ad that just had me gobsmacked. I got my coworker’s attention and showed them the ad.
Coworker: “‘Wanted: Computer specialist with five years of experience with Windows 95’? So, how do you get five years of experience with an operating system that was only released this summer?”
