O’er The Land Of The Free To Decline

| Friendly | June 2, 2016

(My 17-year-old sister was born and raised in France. She’s spending some time in the United States and she attends a baseball game. Before the game begins, everyone starts singing the Star-Spangled Banner. My sister doesn’t sing. She just listens and waits politely. A random woman glares at her.)

Woman: “WHY DON’T YOU SING?!”

Sister: *accentuating her French accent* “I didn’t know zat I was supposed to sing. Nobody ‘as told me. Is zat a problem if I don’t sing?”

(My sister enjoyed her stay in the United States a lot. She didn’t enjoy her encounter with that lady, though.)
