Nun Of Us Were Expecting That

I’m at a bus stop, and an older nun walks up to the waiting area. It’s a small rural bus stop with only one working seat.

Me: “Would you like my seat?”

Nun: “Oh, no, I’m okay to stand. Thank you, though.”

Me: “Are you sure? I don’t mind standing. The bus should only be another five minutes.”

Nun: “Well… if you’re sure.”

She gladly takes my seat, and we start a conversation. Eventually, I have to ask:

Me: “I know this is a broad question, but what is it like being a nun?”

Nun: “It’s many things, but it can be a lot of fun.”

Me: “Fun?”

Nun: “Yes! It’s quite common to think we’re a dour and serious sort, but some of the funniest people I have ever met have been my sisters. We even have nun jokes!”

Me: “Could you tell me one?”

Nun: “Of course. Sister Maria and Theresa are driving a car through Transylvania at night. Suddenly, a vampire lands on their car and starts attacking the windshield, trying to get in! Sister Theresa, who’s driving, says, “Oh no! Sister Maria, show him your cross!” So, sister Maria sighs, rolls down her window, leans out, and shouts, “Oi! You! F*** off!””

With that, she starts chuckling to herself, and I’m left standing there in so much shock I barely notice the bus arrive.
