Not Their Area Of Expertise
Me: “Thank you for choosing [Company] Wireless. My name is [My Name]. May I get your cellular number with area code, please?”
Caller: “I don’t have a cell.”
Me: “Okay, what service are you calling for?”
Caller: “My home phone and cable.”
Me: “What is your home phone number?”
The caller gives a proper number but only seven digits.
Me: “And your area code?”
The customer gives a proper postal code — not what I was asking for.
Me: “I’m sorry, I wanted your area code.”
Caller: “What?”
Me: “If I were to try to call you from Toronto, what would I need to dial?”
Caller: “Oh! One!”
Me: “What else, sir?”
Caller: “What are you talking about?”
Me: *Sighs* “Let me transfer you to Customer Care.”
