(Without looking up, I tell Student #1 to take the same two steps back to his lab bench that he took trying to sneak up to Student #2.)
Student #1: “Wait, you can hear me WALKING?”
Student #2: “Next time take your shoes off!”
(When I looked up Student #1 was standing on a lab stool trying to use his phone to read his lab paper (we were in the dark for an optics lab). When I asked why he said, “I thought it would be brighter up here.”)
