Not Everyone’s Corn Is Fully Popped

I was working at a movie theater in high school and was constantly running the concession stand. At this particular theater, the concession stand wasn’t placed against the wall, but was completely open in the middle of the main floor so we could have up to eight lines for concession if it got busy enough (and it did).

Each station had a well with EASILY fifty gallons of popcorn, where everything would be kept heated until served. More importantly, no matter where you were standing, the customer could easily see everything that was happening.

I was popping popcorn in the middle of the concession stand on a slow day when a customer walked up to my manager and me and asked:

Customer: “Do you pop your popcorn here, or get it from somewhere else?”

Manager: *Sarcastically, while dumping popcorn.* “No, we get the popcorn flown in! This is just for show.”

Customer: “Wow, fascinating! I appreciate the effort you guys make to keep things looking authentic!” *Wanders off.*
