Not Cued In On The Point Of Cues

| CA, USA | Working | July 14, 2013

(We are in our cue-to-cue rehearsal for a play that I’m acting in three days before we open. Our stage manager and director are trying to work out some light cues while we actors wait.)

Stage Manager: “So, here’s the cue for this scene.”

(He does the light cue, but it’s washed out and nothing like the lighting designer or director wanted.)

Director: “Wait, that doesn’t seem right. Is this the way it’s set up?”

Stage Manager: “Well, I’m doing it a different way. I’m not doing it the way it’s actually going to be in the show.”

Director: “…I believe doing it the way it’s actually going to be in the show is the point of this particular exercise.”
