New Starters Putting You In A Fix
One of the newer servers comes back to us in the kitchen to tell us:
Server: “This customer said you put ketchup all over his burger.”
Me: “No we didn’t. We don’t even have ketchup back here.” *I check the ticket.* “The ticket said BBQ so that’s what that is.”
At first, the server refuses to believe us and finally, she tries to save face by saying:
Server: “Well I can see how he thinks it’s ketchup.”
Me: “Nah, we can’t see that. Sorry, they look nothing alike.”
The same server comes in the next day with another complaint:
Server: “These people ordered two medium-rare burgers and they’re both completely well done.”
Me: “No way is that true. Get the food back for me to fix it.”
Server: “Well, they’re eating it.”
Me: “Okay, so what exactly can I do to fix it?”
Server: “Well, nothing. They just wanted me to let you know for the future.”
Me: “Okay, never tell me these things again if there’s absolutely nothing I can do to fix it because I’m not going to change how I cook burgers forever based on one table complaining.”
She actually went out there and told the customers that! Gotta love these new front of house sometimes…
