Needs A Clean Break

(As a student, I live in shared accommodation with others. We each have our own bedroom and bathroom but a common kitchen. One morning I’m in the kitchen preparing my breakfast, which includes a glass of juice. As I’m about to exit, a flatmate opens the door suddenly. It startles me, making me jump and spill the juice on the floor.)

Flatmate: “Oops! Sorry about that. Don’t worry, I’ll clean it up.”

Me: “Okay, thanks. See you later.”

(I go to my bedroom, pick up some kitchen towel and go back to the kitchen to start cleaning the spillage. A moment later my flatmate comes in with his own towel.)

Flatmate: “I said I’d clean it up!”

Me: “Yeah, I know.”

Flatmate: “So why are you here?”

Me: “…I don’t know.”

(That’s how my brain works in the morning, or doesn’t!)
