Must Be Nice To Have So Much Time To Waste
We have this one absolute jerk of a “customer”. Apparently, his grandson or whoever used to work at my restaurant (it had to be over four years ago because I never met him), and [Grandpa] used to do little handyman work for free around the store when his grandkid worked there. Anyway, my general manager now gives [Grandpa] free food.
Today, [Grandpa] called the store phone and refused to speak to me. He wouldn’t even tell me why; he just asked for “the manager” because he didn’t even know our managers’ names and wouldn’t say anything to me other than that. I told him that all the managers on shift were unavailable at the moment, and he hung up on me.
Literally five seconds later, he called again, and I went through the whole “they’re unavailable right now” thing again. I even said that I was one of our most senior employees and could definitely help. He didn’t answer and hung up on me.
Another five seconds later, he called again. I checked the caller ID and didn’t answer.
Five minutes later, he called again. I answered. He heard my voice and hung up on me.
Ten minutes passed. He called again. I didn’t answer. Ten more minutes. Another call. I didn’t answer.
Half an hour went by. He called, and I answered. He asked for the manager. I said they were unavailable right then. He hung up on me again.
Another hour passed, and he called yet again. But this time, the manager picked it up before I did and happily gave him free food.
Why?! I’ve told them multiple times that he’s an a**wipe, but nobody ever listens.
