A Vocabulary Fallout

| Related | December 29, 2015

(My parents and close friends are well aware and okay with the fact that I developed a tendency to swear like a sailor around my early twenties, but I try to watch my language around most other people, especially family members, out of respect for them.)

Me: *noticing my little sister climbing on top of my uncle’s truck* “Hey! Get your a** off of there before you get hurt!”

(I stop and look in horror at my grandmother as I realize my slip-up and find her looking at me in surprise.)

Grandmother: “[My Name]! Did you just say what I think you just said?”

Me: “I’m sorry! It was an accident! I didn’t mean to say it!”

Grandmother: “Frankly I’m surprised you’d even know any bad words! You’ve always been a good girl. I don’t think I’ve ever heard you swear before!”

Sister: “Clearly you’ve never been in the same room as her when she’s playing Fallout on hardcore.”
