More Than Just Desserts

(My boyfriend has been acting very strange all day. We are getting dessert at a fast food restaurant which happens to be my workplace. As we are leaving, he starts a conversation.)

Boyfriend: “So, baby, is there anything else that you want to do tonight before I take you home?”

Me: *jokingly* “Yeah, I want to get engaged.”

Boyfriend: *tilting his head and squinting his eyes* “Is that what you want?”

Me: “Yeah!”

Boyfriend: “Are you sure?”

Me: “You know it is.”

Boyfriend: “Right here, right now? This is the story that you want?”

Me: “You know I don’t care.”

Boyfriend: “Well, let’s get out of the way then.”

(He grabs me and pulls me out of the parking lot onto the sidewalk, and gets down on one knee. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a ring.)

Boyfriend: “[My name], will you marry me?”

Me: “Is this real? Is this a joke?”

Boyfriend: *laughing* “Yes!”

Me: “Which question are you answering!”

Boyfriend: “The first one.”

Me: “Yes! Yes! Yes I’ll marry you yes!”

(The best part about this proposal was that my friends from work were able to witness our engagement. I loved it.)
